How do you spell hearty, soulful and delicious?  "Jimmy's of Santee" that's how! This restaurant says diner, Steakhouse and soulfood, all wrapped into one,  and the flavors are standout, leaving you wanting more! The food was savory, rich in flavor,  and the flavors -simple enough to feel familiar, with an extra je ne sais quoi delicious.

I am not familiar with Santee and its eateries (yet), but the hubs said that Jimmy's is an iconic establishment in Santee. We filled up our propane tank (SD's perfect weather leads to many grilled meals at our house) and headed over to Jimmy's for an early dinner tonight. Plenty of parking, which is always nice. The exterior of Jimmy's exudes its historical, 45 year (I cheated and looked at their website) presence in Santee. But when you walk in, you'll be transported to a modernized, year 2022 restaurant. Lots of space and TV's at Jimmy's -- two bars, large dining room(s), and an outdoor patio area, too! I can see this place getting busy during football/baseball/whatever sport they want to have on.

Jimmy's is a neighborhood restaurant serving American home style fare with a new 2022 dinner menu and a new interior. 5/5 - 4 piece broasted chicken - Jimmy's Famous Deluxe Dinner ($16): A Wisconsin creation that can be experienced here, Jimmy's broasted cage-free-chicken is fried and pressure cooked on order for about twenty minutes resulting in a fried crispy exterior and a moist chicken interior - so good! I can forget going to other places for fried chicken - because they cannot compete. My sides were superb: Seasoned garlicky green beans, super fresh side salad, and a hot baked potato with sour cream and butter.

Nostalgia. Comfort. Deliciousness Jimmy's of Santee has so much going for it and a great place to visit for many reason. If you're looking for a place to wind down and have a drink at the bar, watch the game, have a family dinner , quick bite, socialize or relax.
